Hello and welcome! Can you introduce yourself to our players.

Jeff

And this will be fun as I know we have another DM named Jeff. Ok so tell us Jeff, when did you start playing D&D and how long have you been running games?

I started playing D+D in 1986 with the 1st edition red box, and began DMing in 1987.

Wow, another D&D for life DM! Awesome. Was this one long world campaign or several different games?

I have DMed many one shots, short campaigns, and a campaign that spanned over a decade.

A decade long group that is epic. Quite literally that story is an epic! Do you have a favorite setting or world you like to set your games in?

My favorite campaign setting is the Forgotten Realms, having played in it since it first came out.

So 1986..that puts you at 37 years, in that time you MUST have gone through a ton of dice…just sayin.

Well I still own the dice I got from the 1980’s red box, and seeing how dice have transitioned to modern works of art from ancient plastic has been great.

I am sure those must be some kind of collector’s item. How would you describe yourself as a Dungeon Master? Do you have any particular “style”?

I lean more to making a game fun and narrative over strict adherence to the rule book.  I love creative solutions to problems, and am generally game to let my players try whatever hairbrained idea they came up with… and laugh when it goes right or wrong.

What about your turn ons and turn offs, as a DM, lets keep this PG.

Turn ons: good role playing, having your character a grow and learn.

Turn offs, power gaming and murder Hobos.  ( Come on, that was just a 12 year old girl, you didn’t have to murder her, well there goes that side quest)

Do you have a favorite creature or monster?

My favorite monster is the Illithid, time travelling squid headed abominations?  What’s not cool about that?

I would suppose that would depend on who’s side they are on. Ok last question. You have been playing and running games for longer that some of our players have been alive. What keeps you inspired? What would you say is the reason you are still playing after all these years?

I keep DMing, cause I have stories to tell, and love the energy around a table of people having the same hallucination.

Jeff that was great. Thank you for taking time out to chat with us. We are looking forward to sitting at your table and experiencing your world…the hallucination part will depend on how much we had to drink.
