Leanne

Hello and welcome! Lets start by getting you to tell us your name and when did you start playing D&D?

Hi, My name in Leanne but I usually go by Lee and I started playing D&D when I was 16.

Ahh the teenage years, so impressionable. Do you remember the first edition you played?

I started with 2nd edition. Thac0 is a four letter word in my house, so we will never bring it up again. 3rd edition and 3.5 are the editions that I grew up and learned on.

Technically I think its 5 letters…wait is the 0 a letter or a number…THAC..ZERO. Nope, doesn’t work Anyway how long have you been DMing?

I began DMing five years ago after my partner and I played with a nightmare of a DM. He said that I should give it a try since I am a storyteller and love writing stories. It was the tipping point for some of the most epic adventures I have experienced.

Good storytelling is definitely the key to a good campaign. So moving into hypothetical, if you were a D&D character what race class would you be?

Race, teifling. I am loud and shrieky, first to laugh. And the loudest. Pretty sure I am the spawn of demons. Class, bard, since I am musically inclined.

Loud and Shrieky..mental note put Lee in a tent AWAY from the other groups. Moving one then how about some rapid fire questions. Favorite D&D book?

I have to pick?! I am going to say Tolkien since he is the grandfather of fantasy.

Favorite D&D Quote?

“Eat your goddamn good berries “

I ..umm ..what?!? Nevermind..How many dice do you own?

My hoard is large enough I lost count. Seriously, I own enough dice that I stopped counting years ago.

Favorite Monster to throw at a party?

I have two. Mimics because I have an obsession with them. My players call me “The Mother of Mimics.” I pack bonded with a mimic in the first campaign I ran and Paghorim has made an appearance in all my games.

My other one is a monster I made: a Shambling Mound of Undead Bard Bodies. It is proof my players need to stop saying stuff off the cuff. They have learned to regret it.

Shambling mound of…dear gods, I mean how…you know what I don’t wanna to know. I’m just going to file that in the “Nightmare for another day”. Finally how about you tell us a bit about how you came to be a Professional Dungeon Master and what keeps you inspired to keep doing it?

I became a professional game master during the pandemic, which was the best decision I ever made. In those games I have learned that table management to allow everyone a chance to roleplay and shine. I have written campaigns, modified modules, all to make the experience better for the players. Sitting as the game master for any system allows me the opportunity to help players get emotionally invested in their characters, their stories, the world, and their experience as a whole. The point of the game is for me to watch the players at the table enjoy the game as their story unfolds.

Well Lee we are all looking forward to experiencing your style of DMing and storytelling. We’ll get back to you on the mimics and shrieking.  Thank you for taking time to chat with us! See you this summer!
