Hello and thank you for taking time to talk to us and introduce yourself to our players. Can we start with your name?
Jessep Crossfield
When did you start playing D&D?
My introduction to Dungeons and Dragons was way back in 1994, playing a little Halfling rogue in a 2nd Ed AD&D game. I was instantly hooked.
And when did you start Running games ?
I GM’d my first game ever in 1997 using books borrowed from friends and a module I can no longer remember. I had even started crafting a home brew world, some of those mechanics still live in it’s much evolved from today. I quickly made the leap to 3rd edition in 2001, and began to convert my very skeleton world over, and the bulk of it remained 3.0 to 3.5 until a few years back. Since starting, I have been a game master for many game platforms, including D&D (2 AD&D, 3/3.5, 5e), Shadowrun (3rd & 4th Edition), Warhammer 40k (Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, & Deathwatch), plus a dozen others like Marvel & Deadlands.
What would you say is your favorite D&D book?
There was a series ages back, mid teen? I love Salvatore but this wasn’t him… Folklore?… The Moonshae Trilogy… I know I have a first or early print kicking in my “storage tote library”… now I want to read it again.
How many sets of dice would you say you own?
Complete: 37 on the shelves? Tubes 6’s,8’s & 10’s… 24. Incomplete, missing no more than 3 over the years, I’d say 12ish. So many have demoted to “That Bag” and Yep… (shakes the bag), a solid hit with that and no one will walk away.
If you were a D&D character, what would you be?
If I got one chance to pick… 3.5 Edition: Moon Elf Favored Soul/Sorcerer multiclass.
I really stuck to a love of sorcerer’s with clerics being a close second in any case. Elves have always had a close place for me, something just keeps drawing me back to them… The moon elf is a common but fun variant I’ve always enjoyed.
How would you describe your gaming style?
I’m more of a narrative & intrigue/puzzles GM than hack and slash, but can handle both easily enough. I always note down characters backstory key points, and whenever possible weave them into my stories to allow different players to take “focus” at different times and really try to work to ensure the players character feels immersed and connected to the world when possible with them. I’m very fond of players taking the RP wheel in scenes adding to the dimension, and keeping me on my toes with “reasonable” but unexpected ideas and solutions.
Well thank you again Jessup. I know we are looking forward to seeing you out at the camp and getting a chance to experience your gaming style!
